LED Solutions has been supplying high quality LED products to the UK sign industry since 2005, and has experienced, first-hand, the constant technological improvements that now make it suitable for a wide variety of signage applications. Find out why here…
Here at LED Solutions, we know that the LED module technology of the very near future will be directed towards the development and creation of better chips, lenses and module designs at an increasingly affordable price.
In the past, high-spec LED chips were very basic and, as such, only be utilised for commercial and architectural applications. Now, however, they’re increasingly being used within modules for signs and displays. We’re also beginning to see better packages of high quality LEDs, industry-wide, whereas previously, there was a noticeable disparity in quality between the recognised brands of modules and the rest of the market.
You’ll also begin to notice that the latest modules available include a lens that’s positioned over the top of the LED chip. This allows its illumination to disperse more effectively, thereby reaching a wider surface area. This increased range doesn’t just reduce the number of modules required, it also reduces the cost of illuminating the sign.
Undoubtedly, the next step in the evolution of LED lighting in signage will see manufacturers striving to improve the quality and durability of the LED chip-sets used within their modules and strips, enabling them to generate a higher intensity illumination and number of lumens, while retaining their innate energy-efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
In the mid to long-term, LEDs in the signage industry will become more modular in nature, increasing their versatility and usefulness in line with their decreasing year-on-year cost. Indeed, with the price decrease and quality improvements of mid-power LEDs, we believe that now is the perfect time to bring a vast array of the most up-to-date LEDs to the market!
As the density of LEDs increases to approach a more flexible, almost pixel-like quality level, they will completely replace the acrylic light guides which are the current product-of-choice in the illuminated signage market.
